It's important that you show your pet Gerty is a friend. This means dressing Gerty in your worn clothes (familiar scent) and introducing Gerty to your dog calmly and slowly over the course of 24-48 hours. Once your dog reacts favorably to Gerty entering the room, Gerty is ready for action!

Pets learn that Gerty is a friend, and tend not to treat Gerty as a chew toy. Dressing Gerty in your worn clothes helps protect Gerty as well.

Gerty is roughly 50 inches tall. Gerty is designed with three inflation points, this allows Gerty to stand or sit. If the dog is average to small size, they can sit comfortably under Gerty's tiny arms. For large dogs we recommend standing Gerty up.

It's important that the instructions are followed carefully. Gerty is a stranger, and just like any stranger, your pet needs to know that they are safe. Dress Gerty in your worn clothes, and bring Gerty into the room just as you would a friend you want your pet to "like". Talk to Gerty periodically as you would any other human. After 24-48 hours of interaction, most pets are ready to be left alone with Gerty.
